There are times that I don't even believe in second chances. For too many people, if a second chance is an option, they only see it as an opening - an "out". And once that door is open, it may be more difficult to close the next time.

You can't change anyone. I think that people can only change themselves and even then it has to be if they really want to and it is an actual commitment to change. Friendship and love should not be constant work, no matter what anyone tells ya.

Shall we say that a friend rich in goodness is priceless but a so-called friend who is lacking in integerity and honesty is less than worthless.

When you mention second chances, my thoughts are how do you determine where or how to mark the event or point that ended the first chance? After whatever the event was that ended the first chance (let's call it the re-boot event) then you start over. But was it really that one event that leads you to giving someone a second chance? Or were there a myraid of second chances given throughout the relationship, yet so small you forget so it takes the sum of a bunch of second chances to get the the re-boot? You know the straw that broke the camel's back.
My theory is once you reach the re-boot, it's over. Unlike your PC where things are not saved after a re-boot and you to start fresh; the relationship re-boot is just the inverse, it's worse you do remember and you can't forget, there's no fresh start. You can NOT re-boot relationships! It becomes a cycle of failure and numbs you to the passions, the thrills, the zen of life.

You may want to book this band if you don't decide to take my advice. Wonder how they got their name???

give someone a second chance and it's a reflection on you. What they choose to do with it, is a reflection on them.

I recommend beer.
