In the late 80's we lived on Union between Polk and Van Ness. An earthquake started rattling out flat around 2 am. I woke up and started pulling my wife out bed (heavy sleeper). I got her halfway out and she woke up and asked, "What are you doing?" By then the quake was over. "Saving you from the earthquake," I answered. She shakes her head and says "Uh, what earthquake?" I tried to explain, but she never believed me.
